Wispr Flow runs on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android (pricing page). The same page says: “Students and educators with an education email get 50% off Flow Pro. We also offer discounted Flow Pro to nonprofit organizations.” and “There are no commitments, and you can cancel anytime.” It does not describe refunds or show a trial; the record below shows when a trial offer was last on the page.

Is Wispr Flow free?
Up to a point.
The free plan stops at 2,000 words a week on desktop and 1,000 on iPhone (source). At a speaking pace of 150 words a minute, the desktop limit is about 13 minutes of dictation in a week.
If you dictate a few messages a day, that may be all you need, and you should use it. 20 minutes a day at that pace is 3,000 words, which passes the free limit on the first day.

Monthly or annual?
Count the months.
Wispr Flow Pro billed annually is $144 a year, against $180 paid monthly: $36 less, or 20% (pricing page). An annual bill covers the whole year, so the saving depends on staying: if you might stop within nine months, paying monthly costs less. Wispr Flow’s page says “There are no commitments, and you can cancel anytime.” but does not describe refunds on an annual bill.

Has Wispr Flow’s price changed?
We read Wispr Flow’s pricing page as the Internet Archive saved it. The Archive holds 76 captures of the page, each different from the one before, the first on March 12, 2025. In the 30 we read, spread across that time, Pro is $15 a month billed monthly and $12 a month billed annually in every one.
What changed around it: the team plans, and a “Flow Pro free for 14 days” line beside the Pro price, in the captures we read from November 23, 2025 to July 29, 2026 and not in the August 13, 2026 capture.

What your money buys
on privacy.
Wispr Flow’s data controls page says: “Transcription always occurs on the cloud. This is the best way for us to provide accurate, low latency transcription.” It also says: “Wispr maintains agreements that no third party AI providers can use your data for model training.” (last updated August 18, 2026). Its pricing page adds: “SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified. HIPAA-ready dictation with a signed BAA.” and “Opt out of model training at any time.” (pricing page).
Those are controls over what happens to your audio in the cloud. If your audio must not leave your Mac, the list is shorter. Superwhisper’s free plan says “Nothing you dictate leaves your device” (plans page). MacWhisper’s page says “All transcription is done on your device, no data leaves your machine.” and it offers a free version (Gumroad page). Apple says you can check Keyboard settings to see whether its built-in Dictation is processed on your device (Apple’s guide).

Wispr Flow or Halopen?
Choose Wispr Flow if

- 2,000 words a week on desktop covers your dictation. Its free plan costs nothing.
- You dictate on Windows, iPhone or Android as well as a Mac.
- You want the lower monthly price: $15 against Halopen’s $19.
- Your team needs its admin tools, single sign-on or a signed HIPAA agreement, or you want its meeting Notetaker.
Choose Halopen if
- You work on a Mac and want what you said written as you said it, with cleanup optional.
- You want cloud transcription and an on-device mode for an Apple Silicon Mac in the same app.
Halopen has no free plan after its 14-day trial. It is Mac-only today. If free matters most, or the lowest one-time price, see the options below.

That depends on how much you dictate and on which devices. If 2,000 words a week covers you, the free plan costs nothing. If you dictate more, Pro is $12 a month billed annually or $15 monthly and works on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. Does Wispr Flow have a lifetime plan?
